Since summer 2021, Dafne has been responsible for ensuring the regular opening of the Spinola Castle in Campo Ligure and for organising and managing guided tours led by leading experts in local history.
The Spinola Castle, of medieval origin, consists of a characteristic hexagonal central structure, dating back to the 12th-13th centuries, and a tower, presumably rebuilt after the Middle Ages on an older tower.
The suggestive tower affords a view of the village, recently ranked fifth in the ‘Borgo dei Borghi’ competition, and the surrounding valleys.
Fascinating are the initiatives that take place in the castle and the night tours promoted by Daphne to interest young and old alike.
From the tower, one descends a few metres underground into the ‘Neviera’, an ancient building for storing food using snow. It represents one of the best preserved ‘snowfields’ in the world.
